4 out of 5 stars An old school concept with a twist   May 11, 2008
I rented this game, because I've always loved old school detective games on the PC and Consoles and this being based on CSI didn't hurt either. When I started playing I noticed they took inspiration form Detective games from the past. You have a cursor to either point out evidence and move.It breaks down like this-Crime scene, collect evidence, analyze evidence and interview suspects. No grabbing a gattling gun and killing hordes of alien invaders by the hundres.Basic, barebones interactivity as far as the envirements.Except for collecting evidence that is.The backgrounds are very nicely rendered. They do however repeat in further cases giving a cheap half hearted aproach. You absolutely have to be thorough when you search for it.And you have to remember what evidence you need to process and talk to your suspects after uncovering a piece of the case.

You get to work with all the main character from the show. They do full voiceovers, though I suspect (no pun intended) that not everyone did as great of voiceover than Grissom.Cathrine for exsample talks like she's susdaded. The rest besides Grissom do an average job.But the game is really enertaining. They have cutscenes from the show and they're pretty neat. The down side to the game, however is the length. The game only has five cases (though for Achievement Junkies they'll get a cool 1000 Achievements for all of them).I think only two more would have been enough to give the game some density.I suspect they either ran out of money for more voiceovers or they simply ran out of characters that were interesting enough to use in the cases.

In the end if you love the show or just want to play a rare yet fun detective game then this is for you.If you are a hardcore high thrills gamer i would look elsewhere. This takes patience, logistical concentration and reading the evidence to with a fine tooth comb to add to the case. This game really makes you think differently about video games and the way they're made. So,by all means grab it,play it and have alot of fun.

3 out of 5 stars pyrospiglet   May 7, 2008
I am a huge CSI fan and typically not very good at video games, so I thought this one would be great for me. It was. I had no problem maneuvering like I normally would in an action game. I thought it was way too easy though. And there are only 5 cases! I was expecting at least a season's worth!

I would like it to be more like a "Create your own Adventure" type of layout. If you didn't complete all the right steps, it just would not let you do anything else, which was a little frustrating for me. I would rather be able to get a little off track and then have to correct myself than be steered in the right direction.

And when you find everything, the bonus is just a trailer from the next case! C'mon! Surely they could've thought of something better than that! A cool new tool to use for investigating or something!

Maybe they'll make another one with a little better plot line and rewards. I did find it enjoyable and I'm sure I would buy a new version or sequel or whatever if I saw it in the store... or on amazon.com, of course!

5 out of 5 stars CSI hard evidence   May 3, 2008
I am a huge CSI fan and this game is a blast to play. It is very addictive and time consuming, but worth it. I don't play very many video games, but this is one I would recommend.

5 out of 5 stars Great fun   May 2, 2008
I am really enjoying this so far. I've just started the fifth (and final) case. They do a good job of making you feel you are actually the CSI and you have this case you need to solve. I hope they will make others in the same series.

1 out of 5 stars How can you have twists and turns in a linear world?   March 30, 2008
Fan of the series, but linear storyline presents no challenge.
Would really benefit from a "free motion" environment, like Oblivion, or just about any other game out there, today. You feel confined within a very small part of your "scene" and checkboxes to confirm you've done all you can do in each area kinda takes away the mystery.

Entertaining (somewhat), and a time burner, but very little satisfaction.
