Who is to blame? Activision or Harmonix May 12, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Let me first say this, I played this game a few times at my friends house on his Xbox 360 and it was great. I have Guitar Hero III for my Playstation 3 and I have 2 Les Paul wireless controllers, So I decided to buy this game for my PS3 and sell the Rock Band guitar...BAD IDEA, I bought the product on amazon so I had 2 days to wait for my game to come in the mail. I purchased the songs I wanted ahead of time and I received my Rock Band and i'm hyped up and ready to play...then BAM I find out the Les Paul Guitar Hero wireless guitars are not compatible with Rock Band because Activision and Harmonix are both greedy and both want money. This pisses me off because I have to shell out another $50+ to get another guitar for Rock Band if I want to enjoy a full band. So if I keep Rock Band I will have to have 4 guitars in total. One for GH3 and one for RB. I like the GH3 guitars much better but it all comes down to money.
If you own GH3 and plan to buy this game, be prepared to shell out more money for an extra guitar. This game is really fun but this incompatibility issue drops the overall rating for this game. Get the Xbox 360 version if you have a 360.
Great Fun May 11, 2008 This game could be the only game you ever need, if all you want is to have fun with your friends. I'm no hard core gamer, as the last system I had was a Super Nintendo, but this game combined with a PS3 is the most fun I've ever had playing video games. I had played Guitar Hero at a friend's place, and was impressed. The idea of adding drums was exciting, but I never thought that the singing would be any fun. I was wrong. All three "instruments" are great fun, especially when you add some friends to the mix. The songs, combined with the ones available for purchase, are great. The guitar reportedly works with Guitar Hero III, but the GH3 guitar doesn't work with Rock Band, so if you think you might want both games, then get Rock Band first, so then all you have to do is buy GH3 without a guitar, which is cheaper. I can't wait until sequels come out... I mean, nobody knows what the future holds... possibly an actual cowbell? A talk box? Keyboard?
Technically, the game is right on, making good use of the 5.1 Dolby Digital and 1080p capabilities of the PS3. I wouldn't want to play it with lower resolution, as when you have a guitar, drums, bass, and singer, the video can get crowded.
Fun but the foot pedal S@@@S May 10, 2008 This game was fun but the foot pedal on the drum set broke not so long after i bought It. The guitar is also not that great. To hard to strum compared to the guitar hero controllers. Recomend Guitar hero over this any day!
Ageless April 28, 2008
My 60 year old wife is living a dream!!! She has become a "rock star" guitarist..... She spends a couple of hours a day working on perfecting her technique so she can join our son and daughter-in-law online "rocking it out"..Great game
Im lovin it April 21, 2008 Some people might think this game is stupid. But its really lots of fun. Specially if you want to hang out at your place with a bunch of buddies. Me and my wife enjoy playing together. It's very good for entertainment.
