| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com In terms of mood (both martial and eerie) and structure (the score is divided into 10 suites), there's no major departure from the previous installments in the Halo series here. The biggest difference is that this time, composers Martin O'Donnell and Michael Salvatori seemed to have had a bigger budget and were able to hire a large orchestra. Where the synthetic feel of the previous two CDs sometimes made them feel a little thin and cheap, Halo 3 has the means to match its ambitions: This music would not shame a big-budget Hollywood sci-fi/action movie. Tracks such as "To Kill a Demon" and "This Is the Hour" (both of which, typically, recycle the composers' own themes) illustrate well this expanded sonic palette. The second CD ends with a hidden track ("Love Your Friends") by a band called Princeton, a fairly run-of-the-mill pop-punk effort which won a competition to be included on the soundtrack and which feels jarring compared to the rest of the music here. --Elisabeth Vincentelli
Product Description From the most successful entertainment launch in history, comes the most anticipated video game soundtrack of the holiday season. Bungie created a new variation on the Game's musical themes this time around. Martin O'Donnell, Bungie's composer incorporated a full live orchestra and chorus which goes "above and beyond" what they've done in the past. Album produced by Nile Rodgers.

Halo 3 CD April 7, 2008 The two cd set is great! It is literally the game soundtrack. I only gave it four stars instead of five because none on the songs have lyrics like the Halo 2 Soundtrack. Otherwise, the music is really excellent!

I have to hand it bungie. Their previous game soundtracks have been good, but nothing like this.
**AWESOME MUSIC**
Great, Ambient Soundtrack February 27, 2008 Halo 3's soundtrack is definitely the most epic of the trilogy. While the music steadily built from this single, title screen Gregorian chant-like, ethereal choir from the first game, the final game's music just added to this with even MORE orchestral score and dramatic finished. Add to that the smooth, almost tribal ambient music and sounds that play throughout the game, and you have a rather emotional experience on a CD. I loved the music while playing the game, and it was just as great without actually playing (almost).
Awesome Driving Music, Halo 3 February 25, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Halo 3 Original Soundtrack (2-CD Set) I own ALL of the Halo soundtracks and they live on my Zune and in my 6-disc in-dash CD changer. The whole family loves this music and can relax on long or short rides to shop, work, school, or play. I rate this almost as high as any John Williams music but instead of feeling like you're hangin' out with Luke and Darth Vader, Harry Potter, ET or the Dino's, you're riding along with Master Chief, Johnson, the Arbiter and Cortana.
Get it, you won't regret it.

Awesome Soundtrack... and I've never played the Halo series February 24, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
That's right. Halo 1, 2, 3, I've never played. I picked this soundtrack up on a whim at WalMart and I haven't regretted it.
Even in the softer pieces, there's an energy that just doesn't quit it. It's a soundtrack for your own day-to-day life which isn't far from tactical combat.
This is the soundtrack of a company of soldiers in a grueling campaign trying to hit hard while conserving strength. I think all of us can relate.
