Awesome Game! May 15, 2008 In my opinion this is the best call of duty game ever story line wise, it has a better story and better plot than any other Call of Duty game and because i am a plotaddict when buying games i would like to say this is the best cod Game ever.
This game also have great graphics and cool places where you can play just like point du hoc and the desert and also you can play as a tank commander which was an awesome experience.
cheers,eh!!!
Absolutely awesome. A must have FPS and best in series in my opinion. April 15, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
All I have to say is wow. This game really impresses. The graphics are top notch as well as the sound effects. The fire fights are a pure adrenaline rush, with dirt flying everywhere, bullets zooming over your head, and your ears ringing from that grenade that just went off next to you. Basically, the action is without a better word, stunning. The enemy A.I. is great and rather than acting like perfect killing machines, they act how real people may have acted in similar situations. The atmosphere is great, you can always hear shots begin fired and explosions going off in the background. If you look in the air smoke is every where and there are planes on fire or bombs bursting. You can always hear the Germans screaming for who knows what. The action is a challenge but not so much of one that you stop playing, well except for one level. They made running and crawling seem really realistic, trudging through the dirt to avoid getting blown up is an awesome experience. There is better variety of locations here than you will see in any other WW2 game, and all are well detailed and seem to be exactly how the real thing would have been. There is a decent selection of well detailed guns that all feel great, but I would have liked more I think. The frame rate is very solid as I never had any slowdown or anything. I The vehicles sections are not as good as they could have been and are sometimes boring but I guess its a break from the typical action. The multi player is fairly solid and pretty chaotic, although sometimes it is camper heaven. Bottom Line, you will not find a better WW2 game, and this at least rivals the best of the best of FPS games in other genres as well.
The new standard in World War II gaming January 29, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Somewhat disillusioned and apathetic to the sheer density of number of World War II games being churned out each year for the consoles since PlayStation 2, I got pretty sick of the entire genre, as I imagine many people did. How many dozens of Medal of Honor games are there? I've only played Spearhead, Frontline, and Airborne. I didn't expect this one to emerge as one of the best I've played.
Having not played the first Call of Duty, I can only say that Call of Duty 2 has been the most immersive, realistic, and overall most fun with the most lasting appeal of any World War II game I've played, a place previously held only by Medal of Honor: Spearhead.
The lasting value of the game is very clearly in the multiplayer, with a small selection of creative and highly entertaining maps with spectacular designs which make it both easy and difficult to win, depending on any factor from quality of your enemies, to your own mood or condition.
Those without multiplayer miss out on a big part of the game, but the single player missions in themself are a highly entertaining part which lasts over a dozen long-winded missions guaranteed to keep you busy for hours. From the streetfighting at Stalingrad, to tank combat in Tunisia, to the visceral, bloody invasion of France and Germany, you play either a Russian Private, a British Lieutenant or a British Sergeant in the 7th Armoured Division, or an American participating in D-Day.
Action happens in a flash, and you can't always tell the difference between friend and foe in the heat of combat, but they are distinctive enough that a moment's hesitation can be the saving grace by which you kill an opponent rather than lose for killing a friend. Depending on difficulty level, you can take more hits than a man should, or be slain easier than sugar in coffee.
For multiplayer, despite the fact that each map has only two sides to be played (German vs American, German vs British, German vs Russian), their weapons are for the most part evenly balanced, or even identical, with a few tweaks and bonuses and extras on each side, which balance out in the end. While the Germans have the best and easiest to handle machine gun, the Americans have the superior sniper rifle scope, and the faster base rifle, or while the Russians have the fastest and most bullet-heavy machine guns, their sniper scopes are actually inferior to German ones, and they lack the snow camoflauge German troops have.
With some of the best graphics, most realistic physics and location damage, and grittiest single player battlefield campaigns, this is certainly one of the best World War II first person shooters yet out there.
great old shooter January 25, 2008 Up til the release of Call of Duty 4 this was the greatest entry in the call of duty franchise. The campaign is well paced and just varied enough to avoid being repetetive. In my opinion, this is the best WWII shooter you will play on a console.
Game wouldn't play January 24, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Game wouldn't play in my Xbox 360. I returned the game, and I am still waiting for my refund.
