Product Description
Sonic The Hedgehog, the Sega classic that changed the way games are played, has come to the Xbox 360 with exciting new features! For the first time, you'll be able to save your high scores and progress as you rocket through the seven gravity-defying stages that started it all. After you outrun Dr. Robotnik and his badniks in Original Mode, race through the famous loop-de-loops even faster with Sonic's trademark Spin Dash in Anniversary Mode which celebrates Sonic's 15th birthday. This special 15th Anniversary Edition also brings tunes from the original soundtrack which you can unlock as you finish the stages.

2 out of 5 stars not that satisfied   May 21, 2008

1 out of 5 stars what's next this was whack   May 11, 2008
This ruined sonic completely the storyline is whack the 2player mode sucks and kinda hard the way the you run and there's a space or a part you get stuck in, the old sonic games were more better with better storyline and design this game was a little off balance, so this game was'nt good at all.

1 out of 5 stars It's broken.   March 28, 2008
This is, unfortunately, a bastardization of the entire Sonic franchise.

When I bought this, it came in a box that said "Platinum Family Favorites". Trouble with that is it *still* hasn't grossed over a million sales, even if you combine the 360 version's sales with the PS3 version's sales and look at it globally. It's in the 700,000 range.

Enough boring stuff, here's the kicker: It's broken. This is not a finalized game. And the fact Sega can release a patch any time they fixed something but hasn't done so at all is incredibly disturbing.

This was the first Sonic game I've ever played on any console that I've had a game over on the first level where none of the deaths were my fault. I've gone through solid objects, bounced off of objects and fell and gone the wrong way only (unintentionally) to get a time over.

What seriously irks me is that this game uses the same physics engine that Super Smash Bros. Brawl uses (the Havok engine). This was not in debugging long enough to warrant this as the final game. A beta version, yes, but not the final game. Sega has done much better with Sonic and the Secret Rings than this game, because Secret Rings is actually playable.

2 out of 5 stars Sonic the Fan Game   March 27, 2008
This game is awful, it was rushed through and through. The bugs and load times really derail this game. Not even sonic can save this game, it's a down right abomination.

So why do I like this game? I don't know. This is a game I play for about 20 minutes, then eject it in disgust. Then the next day... for some reason, I pop it back in.

This game is confused of itself, trying to do too many things at once, and not really shining in any of them.

Take the adventure levels for example, these probably made a return because of Sega's "retracing" of why Sonic was so good. They saw that people liked Sonic Adventure and tried to mimick it. Unfortunately, the adventure fields were NOT what made Sonic adventure great.

What does stand out in this game is the Idea, the fact that this game COULD have been one of the greatest games of all time, and that in itself is a reason to own this game.

Also, the character models are incredible, the characters and SOME levels look stunning, especially the pre-rendered cutscenes. The music in this game is a different story, there are some really memorable pieces, and then there are the crappy ones that bring down the whole experiance.

Loading times! here we go. The load times are a monumental kick in the groin in this game. The loading scripts were obviously thrown together at the last minute. What I think happened in developement is this; They created a Universal load script that constantly loads and drops files from memory, regardless of what it's loading next or what it's already loaded. So each load screen, it has dropped everything from memory, and loads everything from scratch. There are major displays of this throughout the game.

So in closing, if you are a fan of Sonic, this game is definetly worth the price, although I do admit, randomly running around town is much more fun than any of the levels. If you don't know who Sonic is, or just looking for a good game, then pass on this one, I have no idea why I love this game so much.

1 out of 5 stars Worst Sonic 3D Game Ever Made in the History of the Sonic Franchise   January 16, 2008
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

I played and beat this game. There is almost absolutely nothing good about this game at all. The absolutely most terrible thing in the game IS!: the camera. Sonic 3D adventure games have gotten a pretty good, uhm, how do I say? Expectation from fans to always have bad cameras. But this one jumps over those freaking expectations with a trampoline and jet pack. It's the worst one in ANY Sonic game in general. I tried flying out a window with Tails, as you had to in order to float to the next building and grab a Chaos Emerald, but the camera decided to have a game of musical chairs with me and so I ran out of flight time and perished.

The game is ludicrously difficult. If it wasn't for the bad camera, half of the game's difficulty would instantly be gone. Almost every time an enemy killed me, or I fell down a classic bottomless pit hole, it was because of the stupid camera. However, the hardest parts in the game are the levels where Sonic must run at his maximum speed to overcome some short-time obstacle and these aren't hard because of the camera. No, these are just hard from bad design; it's the hardest aspect of the game. Some of these levels could have been done in literally one or two minutes, oh, except for the fact it's stupidly easy to die during these. You can't break, you can't even slow down and bumping into absolutely anything results in death. Ironically, the very final boss in the game is easy as dirt in comparison to the rest of the game, it was pretty anti-climatic.

However, despite that, the game does have a couple things I strongly admire. Mainly, Sonic and Shadow now have differences and aren't 100% clones of each other. Shadow's Homing Attack performs slower than Sonic's, but Shadow also jumps higher. He also has the ability to, after doing a homing attack, unleash a frenzy of punches and kicks mid-air.

The music is also excellent. Seriously, listen to the track "Flame Core - Volcano". That's the only example you need. However, it seems Crush 40 did very little music, if any, for the game, which disappoints me. I believe all they did was a remix of some song from Shadow the Hedgehog.

As well, the graphics are pretty great for it, too! The best example of the game's graphics is Dr. Robotnik. They really put a lot of detail on his face with his mustache, chubbiness and even blue veins being visible under his skin (but not disgustingly bulging out, it was very well done).

Also, this is the only Sonic game I know of where Sonic actually dies. Sure, they bring him back by getting all seven Dragon Bal-I mean Chaos Emeralds and making a wish to bring him back, but still! He freakin' dies!

It had the potential to be a really great game, because this game legitimately had some good ideas not used in previous games, but it failed massively, entirely due to the camera and the unbalanced difficulty.
