Call of Duty 4 ruined every other shooter April 27, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
After playing CoD4, It's very difficult to play anything else without comparing.
The graphics and the cut scenes in Army of 2 are great. The story line is pretty good, and the selection of weapons is cool...but thats about all I liked about it. The fact that you can't pick up enemy weapons on the fly is a bummer. The controls are crappy. It feels like your fighting against the controller the whole time. The targetting reticle sucks to say the least.
The game does have some merit, but like a lot of games, it's rushed out sometimes to meet a deadline, and the consumer ends up paying the price. Good idea, good story, poor execution.
its ok April 26, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This game was ok. its not the best shooter I've ever played. Nothing like COD. plus you have to shoot the guys like 50 times before they go down. And it just seems like it was the same thing over and over. Its cool that you can up grade your weapons and everything, but to me it just seemed like upgrading didnt make a big difference. And the only time I used the secondary weapon was when I ran out of ammo on the first weapon, which was like twice. So it was an ok game if your bored. Diffinetly not one I would buy.
Very Satisfying Game April 26, 2008 I found the game to be very satisfying. You can pull off tactics and really use the environment and weapons in a lot of interesting ways. Actually it's Counter Strike good in that regard (to me that is the highest praise a game can receive). Almost out of ammo but don't want to run for a satchel? Just trade a gun with your partner. Sure, your AI partner can be a bit of a meat-head at times and drag you into harms way, also don't tell him to advance while set to "aggressive" otherwise you'll find him laying in a pool of his own blood right next to a hoard of enemies. But if you plant him in a spot and turn his aggressiveness on and off he'll give you great cover support while you have the fun of taking out the bulk of the enemies. I also like the humorous banter as they progress through the maps. I think I actually enjoy it more than COD4 and GOW. Those games didn't allow much in the way of tactics like this game does. It's certainly longer than COD4 and not as purely frustrating as GOW.
Only real issue are the all too infrequent saves spots. Don't answer the phone or door if you're not past the next checkpoint after a tough fight or you might come back to a hung x360 and you have to start the level over (dang overheating x360!). Next time I hope they put a few more saves in but others wise a great game.
Oh, and the graphics and gun sounds are very nice as well.
A fantastic game and something other developers should look at. April 23, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Army of Two is a great game, offering unparalleled Co-op action and a very good AI system. The game is filled with intense action and a unique way of getting weapons and upgrading them. While the game is fun to play single player, it is a blast to play cooperatively. Playing with another person instead of an AI controlled partner adds to the enjoyment value immensely. The action of the game is addictive and intense. The game can be very challenging but in a way that is less frustrating and more a challenge you just want to overcome, and when you finally do, you feel like you've accomplished something. A fabulous game, one which other game developers should look at when designing their own games with Co-op. I highly recommend this game to FPS fans everywhere.
Fun and worth playing April 18, 2008 I did enjoy this game, but it isn't over the top special. I guess I felt like I was playing a Gears of War remake a lot of the time, but it does have its own special, enjoyable areas. Some of the controls are a little hard to get used to, but once you get the hang of them they come pretty naturally. Overall, I think its worth the time and money.
